Lori Comallie-Caplan's educational background includes training in a broad spectrum of administration, education, counseling, mediation and assessment skills. This includes an undergraduate degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Behavior Disorders with post-graduate work in psychological counseling, psycho-educational assessment, educational management and development, and educational law.
She has 26 years of experience in the field of education with 22 of those years in the field of Special Education (including Gifted Education). Her career experience includes working in the positions of Special Education Coordinator, Gifted Education Program Specialist, Educational Diagnostician, Special Education Counselor, Behavior Technical Consultant, IDEA Compliance Trainerand Middle School Inclusion Teacher. Additionally she holds a New Mexico State Board of Social Work Examiner’s license as a Master Social Worker and a Certification for Mediation from the University of New Mexico School of Law.
Ms. Comallie-Caplan is adjunt professor for New Mexico State University in the Special Education Department.
Ms. Comallie-Caplan has presented at state and national workshops as well as provided individualized consultation to school districts. She has been involved with assisting school districts in developing and implementing inclusion programs for diverse populations of students with special needs. Ms. Comallie-Caplan earned a lifetime membership for her accomplishments as the 2005-2006 President for the New Mexico Association for the Gifted (NMAG). She also was awarded the Gifted Administrator of the Year 2009 from NMAG. She now serves as President Elect for SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted) and is an active SENG Model Parent Group Facilitator Trainer.
